Skin Boosters in Montréal: Hydration and Skin Quality
What hyaluronic acid skin boosters can offer, their limits and how suitability is assessed during a Montréal consultation.

Some changes in the skin are hard to name. Nothing dramatic has happened, but the skin looks a little duller, feels a little rougher, and has lost some of the suppleness it used to have. Often, the underlying issue is hydration and skin quality rather than volume or lines. Skin boosters were developed for exactly this situation.
What is a skin booster?
This guide focuses on hyaluronic acid skin boosters, injectable treatments intended to improve skin hydration and quality. Their goal differs from using a dermal filler to restore volume or shape. Hyaluronic acid attracts and holds water and supports the skin's extracellular matrix. Formulations, injection depth, and treatment protocols vary, so the product and placement must be chosen for your skin and anatomy rather than treated as interchangeable (Ghatge & Ghatge, 2023).
Hyaluronic acid is a substance your skin already contains. It is known for its ability to bind large amounts of water, which is central to skin hydration and elasticity (Zhou & Yu, 2025).

What can skin boosters help with?
Skin boosters are generally considered for concerns related to skin quality rather than structure: fine lines, rough texture, dullness, and skin that feels less supple. A systematic review of injectable hyaluronic acid for facial skin quality found reported improvements in hydration, elasticity, roughness, and radiance across the included studies (Ghatge & Ghatge, 2023). A 2025 meta-analysis similarly found that local hyaluronic acid injection improved measures of skin ageing, including wrinkle appearance and hydration (Zhou & Yu, 2025).
Treatment is usually planned as a short series of sessions spaced about a month apart, since the goal is to gradually restore the skin's supporting environment rather than to create an immediate change. The exact plan depends on your skin and your goals, and maintenance sessions are typically discussed as part of it.
Are there side effects?
In the published studies, injectable hyaluronic acid used for skin quality was well tolerated. The most common side effects were bruising, swelling, and tenderness at the injection sites, and these typically settled within about two weeks. Less common complications, such as small lumps or nodules, have been reported, which is one reason technique and injector experience matter (Ghatge & Ghatge, 2023).
Is a skin booster right for you?
Skin boosters suit people whose main concern is how their skin looks and feels, rather than its shape. If your concern is volume loss, movement lines, or sagging, a different treatment, or a combination, may serve you better. The only way to know is an in-person assessment. If your skin has been looking tired or less supple lately, book a consultation and we will help you find an approach that fits.
